Sm Bus Controller Driver
Hello all, first time posting here. I'm having major issues with my USB devices. I have already tried a good amount of troubleshooting and solutions that don't solve my issue. So, first off specs:
Windows 7
Full Tower NZXT Phantom Computer Case
MSI Geforce GTX 660 Ti
Kingston HyperX Blu (4 x 4GB) RAM
MSI Z77A-G45 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
KINGWIN Lazer LZ-850 850W Modular 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified
Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core
OCZ Vertex 128GB Internal SSD
Logitech G510 Black USB Wired Gaming Keyboard
Logitech G500 Laser Gaming Mouse
I figure all that isn't necessary (except mobo and Keyboard/mouse) but I'd give the full story in case.
So basically I game, and my mouse has been cutting out steadily for roughly 10 seconds quite often. It starts out slow (once in ~15 minutes) then quickly escalates (once in ~1 minute) to unplayability (mouse just flashes as power goes on/off). It starts off as just the mouse, but then they keyboard will do the same thing after the mouse starts getting into unplayable mode. It makes the USB connect/disconnect sound everytime it happens, except when flashing/unplayable in which case it is just off.
Straight restarting my computer does nothing, and in fact sometimes makes it worse. If I hard shut down my computer, because of inability to move mouse or use keyboard, it tends to fix it for a short time at least. This does not just happen when I game, though I notice it seems to escalate the problem quicker if in game.
I have tried multiple mice, and the same thing happens to each one. I have updated all my drivers, uninstalled drivers, gone to 'Power Management' and unchecked 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. I have also swapped USBs, used my computer case USBs, and USB 3.0.
In the end under 'Device Manager' and 'Devices and Printer' there is a yellow '!' next to 'Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller' and an 'Error 28'. I can uninstall the driver but it just comes back each time with the same error. If I try to update it, Windows comes back unable to update. I can't roll back the driver (its grayed out) and disabling it doesn't fix my problem (though everything seems to run like normal).
I've even gone back 2 months as a system restore, to where I know it was working fine, and I still have the same issue. I am truly at a loss here, and very frustrated. It totally ruins my game experience, and my computer isn't even a year old. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.. everything I've Googled/looked up so far hasn't worked for me. Sorry for the wall of text...!
